THE VINEYARD

Fresh, lively and with good length, our Saint Aubin village "les Pucelles" stands out for its excellent balance between ripeness and acidity. Our vineyard, facing south and slightly west, benefits greatly from the warm evening sun. Situated at an alti-tude of 350 to 430 meters and located in the windy corridor of La Rochepot, it maintains the necessary note of freshness. It extends over slopes of around 30 to 35%, with well-draining calcareous, marly soils, particularly brecciated limestone. These limestones, which take their name from the presence of numerous marine fossil segments, are ideally suited to growing Chardonnay. The name "Les Pucelles" likely originated from a gradual linguistic transformation. The upper part of the slope, which has not been planted to date, reveals ancient piles of stones, remnants of old "small parcels", whose name may have evolved into "Pucelles".
