Australian Wine
Australia started making wine in the early 19 th century. At that time most of the country drank a lot of rum, and the hope was that their society would become more civilized if wine was introduced in its place. The plan did not necessarily work, but over the centuries, Australia has developed into a fine wine making country. They are most well known for their Syrah, their Cabernet Sauvignon, their Chardonnay, their Riesling, and their Semillon. There are reliable inexpensive wines as well as fine wines that are produced here. Most of the Australian vineyards can be found on the southeast coastal areas of the continent.
